Neurosurgery department of Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle is organising spine cadaver course since January 2016. It is aimed to give registrars and spine consultants access to Fresh Frozen cadavers to understand the anatomy better and to hone their surgical skills.

Such courses are immensely useful at all levels of specialty training and for consultants. I have found that these courses can be prohibitively expensive. My endeavour is to make it as cost effective as possible so that finance should not be a reason for not undergoing such a training course.

The aim of the course is

  • Effectively learn new surgical techniques

  • to become a more confident surgeon

  • to become a safer surgeon
